Starfield is Bethesda’s biggest game to-date, with a universe spanning dozens of star systems and over one thousand planets. Combine that with some excellent quests, great combat and space dogfighting, and it’s no surprise that players are looking for similar experiences. And while we can’t promise you an experience exactly like it, we’ve compiled a list of seven games we think you’ll enjoy if you had a good time with Starfield.

If your favourite part of Starfield was exploring alien planets then No Man’s Sky takes that to a completely new level. As a procedurally generated game, there are literally endless planets to check out, and most of them have a lot more content than planets in Starfield, making it arguably the best space exploration game on the market right now. Combine that with all the updates since its launch such as missions, base building, ship building, and even creature taming, there’s never been a better time to check out No Man’s Sky.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, if you’re after some more RPG action then The Outer Worlds is for you. Set in space just like Starfield, it comes from Obsidian Entertainment, the developers of Fallout: New Vegas, and comes with all the same story-altering choices, making it an ideal choice if you’re itching for a game with some deep RPG mechanics.

Speaking of Fallout, the most similar game in Bethesda’s canon to Starfield right now is the game that came immediately before it. Fallout 4 doesn’t have the RPG chops that some of the previous games in the series has, but what it does have is a huge world and some of the best combat Bethesda has ever made. While the setting is wildly different, this is probably the most similar feeling game to Starfield possible. Perfect for if you just want something that replicates that Starfield vibe.

If, like many, your favourite planet in Starfield was Neon, then how does an entire game in Neon sound? That’s essentially what Cyberpunk 2077 is all about. It’s a sprawling RPG taking place in the neon-soaked futuristic streets of Night City, and with the Phantom Liberty DLC expanding on it even further, it’s one of the best modern RPGs on available right now.

One of Starfield’s most fun aspects is the dogfights you can undertake in your ship high in the orbit of a planet. Well, Elite Dangerous takes that same premise and expands on it. Get yourself a ship and explore the universe, raiding other ships, taking on bounties and missions, and trading to get new parts to make your ship even better. There’s plenty of freedom to play how you want to and is the best way to get your fix of fast-paced space combat.

Everspace 2 takes the commitment to space combat that Elite Dangerous makes and goes even further. This game is all about customising your ship and engaging in fast-paced, electrifying space battles. There are a huge amount of customisation options, and as you progress you’ll earn new parts and upgrades to keep your ship in tip-top shape. If you want to capture the feeling of Starfield’s dogfights again, you can’t get much better than this.

Coming from the recently shuttered Arkane Austin, one of Bethesda’s studios, Prey is finally getting some recognition as one of the best shooters of the last decade. You’ll explore an abandoned spaceship infested with an aggressive alien species trying to ascertain what happened to you and the other passengers. Combine that with some excellent gunplay and even some abilities similar to the Powers in Starfield, and you’ve got an incredible space FPS to enjoy.
