Common Beginner Mistakes in Raid: Shadow Legends (2)

There is a lot thrown at you in RAID Shadow Legends, as it’s one of the most robust mobile champion collector games in terms of champions and game modes. Let’s talk about some common mistakes that new players tend to make because of this and how you can make sure to avoid them and play progress as efficiently as possible!

Take advantage of Promo-Codes

There are some amazing promo codes, especially for starting out your RAID account, that you will definitely want to take advantage of. We have a dedicated page for promo codes, where you can make sure to start with a very valuable champion that you do not want to miss out on!

Wasting resources

Many resources in RAID Shadow Legends regenerate if they are not maxed out, or refill automatically on a daily rotation. Energy, Arena Tokens, Clan Boss keys, Doom Tower keys, Iron Twins keys, and Faction War Keys, are all examples of resources that you will miss out on if you are not staying below them being maxed out.

One example of this, is that if you are maxed out on energy for a full day that you don’t play the game, you just missed out on 480 free energy that would have generated for you that day. Things like this can really add up to a ton of missed resources over the life of your RAID journey.

Damage Stats

amage dealers need to be dealing damage, which means critically striking. When you’re building a DPS hero, the first thing that you need to prioritize planning around is making sure that you can hit the 100% crit rate cap. This will be extremely difficult early game, but later on the mid/late game, you’ll be able to do this very effectively.

Make sure to check out the HH Gaming Gear Optimizer to build your champions as optimally as possible!

Shard Pulling at the wrong time!

There is a very predictable 2x shard event rotation that disciplined players can plan around. Follow our home page here at HH Gaming to stay in the loop of which shard event is coming next. This rotation goes in the order of Ancient, Sacred, Void, on a 6 week rotation, buffing each of those shards respectively every 2 weeks. Try your best to line up your shard pulling sessions for each shard when their 2x event will occur, so that you maximize the value of your shards.

Gem Mine vs Sparring Pit

The Gem Mine is a way better investment overall compared to the Sparring Pit. It takes 100 days for a maxed out Gem Mine to pay the investment value back to you. If you like RAID Shadow Legends, and plan to play long-term, consider getting your Gem Mine fully upgraded as soon as possible so that you start accumulating those gems as soon as possible.

Weak hits

It is extremely important to make sure you have different affinity champions available for each role. Many new players do not know that weak hits cannot even place debuffs. For example, you may have a tank in your Demon Lord team that you count on to place [Decrease Attack], but if it’s the wrong affinity, it may not keep this debuff on the boss, causing your whole team to get killed way sooner than you expected. So even on a champion you’re not wanting damage from, weak hits can be very devastating.

Spreading your Roster to wide, too early

Many new players will get excited about acquiring new champions, and start by trying to get a very diverse roster leveled up all at once. This is actually a bad thing, because you need to get your account rolling with a damage carry first. Pump everything you have into getting 1 damage dealer (usually your starting champion), fully maxed out as soon as possible so that you can snowball progress quickly.

Clans are SO important!

If you don’t join a clan, or are in a clan that is very inactive, you will be missing out on a ton of resource acquisition opportunities. Try to prioritize getting into a clan that is progressing at a similar pace to you, and plays similar to you. Demon Lord rewards are daily, and things like Clan vs Clan can give many rewards even in matches that you lose. There are other benefits as well like the Clan Shop, but mainly, you want to make sure you’re getting these passive rewards because they really add up over time.

Understanding Damage Caps

Be very mindful of the Max HP and Poison Detonate type mechanics, because caps are added to them in the later stages of the game. You may have a Zavia completely blowing up the Dragon with tons of Poison detonations, but starting on stage 21, it will be hard capped, likely doing way less damage. Pay attention to your teams as you move into level 21+ and hard versions of dungeons.

Do NOT Ignore Accuracy

The accuracy that you’re going to need on your crucial debuff champions will continue to go up as you progress in the game, both in PvE and PvP. If you’re progressing fast, make sure you’re revisiting your builds to get enough accuracy on your champions. You can refer to our HH Gaming RAID Stages Tool to make sure you always know how much accuracy you need!

Hoarding Gear

It’s very tempting to keep tons of that old gear, just in case you ever need it to build a champion for a certain situation you need quickly, but this can make playing RAID much more of a mess. Storage space for gear is not endless, and is pretty expensive to acquire more space. Obviously you need to keep some backup gear, but you will want to lean a little more towards being picky about what you keep so that you’re not constantly full on storage space. This causes overflow into your inbox, where things start piling up, and then it’s a daunting task to get caught up again.

Progress Missions

Many players make the mistake of forgetting about their missions for a few weeks sometimes. Make sure to loosely pay attention to your quests, challenges, and missions, as the rewards add up to a lot, including impactful champions like Arbiter and Ramantu Drakesblood. Make sure to also do your daily quests, especially early on, because this will help you level up your account and get to the 130 max energy cap sooner.

Wasting XP

Before you do a very large Campaign XP grinding session, make sure to check that your 100% XP boost is live, and if it’s not, check to see if you have a banner to claim in your inbox, or one that you can earn in an event. It’s also very important for you to remember to claim your XP boosts, because if they expire in your inbox, the game does not just claim it for you, it disappears!

Community Insight

The RAID Shadow Legends community is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. If you’re struggling to find a clan or progress your account, usually there is somewhere via places like Discord or Reddit where you can readily get help. The HH Gaming RAID Discord is a great place to start where there are over 40,000 members interacting!

Dont Waste Books and Brews

It may be tempting sometimes, but do not ever use higher rarity books on a lower rarity champion. You might just need 1 more skill book to max out your starter champion, and it can be tempting to use that epic book you have sitting there, but do not do it. XP Brews will also give way more yield if you make sure to match the affinity of the XP brew with the affinity of the champion it’s being used on.
