Who will I get to see at the HLA Conference this year? This is always one of my favorite conferences in the area because, obviously, I love to be surrounded by fellow housing + land use nerds! This year will be touching on several things I'm hyper focused on in my role with Sightline Institute and 1000 Friends of Oregon - I'd love to catch up with folks and collaborate on ideas to ensure the OHNA process results in equitable, affordable housing choices for all Oregonians. Hope to see you there!

I was so proud to attend the grand opening of Good Shepherd Village yesterday. This one was a relay marathon - one that started many years before I came onboard at CCO, one that I was honored to have a role in finally getting the funding needed to get it designed and out of the ground, and one that many others saw through to completion. We worked hard to ensure thoughtful design was a part of every step, honoring the future residents and collaborating with current community members. Intentional, responsive affordable housing does take time. I know it sometimes feels like “nothing is happening” from the outside, but there’s so many amazing teams working their butts off to make sure things aren’t just built, but that they’re built right, built well, and built responsibly. There were many factors that finally made this a possibility after almost a decade of starts and stops - but one key piece was the Metro Housing Bond dollars. Voters - your support for these funds MADE THIS HAPPEN ❤️ 143 households are on their way home thanks to you. There is still so much need though. Let’s celebrate these moments and…Let’s keeping it going!

Hello! As many of you have already figured out, I've recently dipped my toes back into the housing world, but this time, with a focus on housing policy. I'm excited to be working (part-time) with Sightline Institute and 1000 Friends of Oregon on the Oregon Housing Needs Analysis (OHNA) rulemaking process. This is essentially the first big overhaul of the State's housing goal since its inception 50 years ago, and there's a big opportunity to increase housing choice across the state through this process. Hello network! As I near the end of some wonderful time recharging and traveling, I’m reaching out for ideas for the coming months. Right now, I’m primarily interested in contract and/or temporary work with semi-flexible hours as I continue to reflect on how I’d like to evolve my career long-term. I’m open to any creative options you may know of, even if it’s not directly related to what I’ve been doing for the past many years! Appreciate your ideas in advance and wishing everyone a grounding new year.

Yesterday we celebrated bringing another 110 affordable homes to Portland. Huge thanks to our development partners at Related Northwest, MWA Architects, Inc. for the beautiful design, and LMC Construction for bringing it to reality. The fact that I get to call these residents my new neighbors makes it that much more special. Welcome to the neighborhood, Cathedral Village!
