CARRIE BLOCK, age 81, of Little Rock passed away on Saturday,Sept. 1, 2007. She was born in Little Rock and was a retired Realtor from Block Realty Co., and later as Block/ Kaiser Realty for over 30 years. She was a past president of the Home Builders Auxiliary, March of Dimes "Mother of the Year" in 1962 and served as secretary for the Big Brothers of Pulaski County for 15 years. She was an active member of her beloved Agape Sunday School class and the Caring Handsprayer shawl ministry at St. James United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lelah Ross; brother, Buddy Ross; and sisters, Marguerite McCreight and Betty Thomas. She is survived by her son, Lew Block of Little Rock; her daughter, Babs Fowler and husband Gray of Jackson, Miss.; sister, Francis Greenwood of Little Rock; grandchildren, Lora Block of Austin, Texas, Daniel Fowler and wife Becky of St. Mary's, Ga., and Tracy Fowler of Brentwood, Texas, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at St. James United Methodist Church with Rev. Fred Haustein and the Rev. Dan McKee officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be the Agape Sunday school class.

F. MAURINE EVANS, 87, of Little Rock passed away at home on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007. Maurine was a loyal employee at Dillard's for 44 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Lynn Short and husband Lewis; one granddaughter, Donna Lauderdale and husband Dan; and two greatgrandchildren, Hunter and Makena, all of Little Rock.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills, 10200 Hwy. 5 North, Alexander (455-1067). PAUL F. NELSON, age 87, of North Little Rock passed away Friday,Aug. 31, 2007. He was born March 11, 1920, in Wesson, Ark. He was a WWII Army veteran and a retired conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad and Amtrak. Paul was a lifetime member of the United Transportation Union and a 33rd degree Mason. Until his health began to fail, he was an active member of CentralBaptist Church in North Little Rock for more than 50 years.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Willie Nelson; stepmother, Grace Nelson; and sister, Edith Fish.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Juanita Nelson; son, John Nelson and wife Brenda; and daughter, Anne Kinchen and husband Ron, all of North Little Rock; two brothers, Charles Nelson of Hot Springs, and Robert Nelson and wife Carolyn of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Chris Nelson, Carla Bray, Kacie Kinchen, and Kelsi Kinchen; and two greatgrandchildren, Lexi and Cash.

Paul was respected for his gentleness, devotion, patience, honesty, and generosity by his family and friends alike. Through the years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, refinishing antiques, attending bluegrass concerts, gardening, and candy making. He gave to family and friends most of the vegetables he grew, added beauty to the church landscape with his many wildflowers, and during holidays honored multiple requests for candy, mainly his specialty, divinity. Paul will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, 5200 Fairway Ave., North Little Rock, Ark. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Rest Hills Memorial Park.

ARKADELPHIA - Christine Sossamon Sowell Fulmer, age 91, of Arkadelphia died Saturday, September 1, 2007, in Hot Springs. She was born March 8, 1916, in Clark County, Ark., the daughter of Millard Augusta and Josephine Davis Sossamon.

Mrs. Fulmer was a member of Second Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by three sons, Loyce Jr., Charles, and Billy Sowell; two husbands, Loyce Sowell Sr. and P.J. Fulmer; and one great-grandson.

Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth (John) Overton of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Carla (Ricky) Nutt, Kelli Lancaster, Monte Sowell all of Arkadelphia, Rebecca (Mike) Tully of Malvern, Robbin (Tracy) McDermott of Enola, Rachel (Steve) Ezzell of Denver, Colo., John (Kathy) Overton Jr. of Fayetteville, and LeAnna Overton of Janesville, Wis.; 21 greatgrandchildren and four great-greatgrandchildren.

No formal visitation will be held.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2007, at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel with nephews Rev. Austin Lewis and Rev. Toney Lewis officiating. CABOT - Mildred Cromer Blair, 80, of Cabot passed away Friday, August 31, 2007. She was born July 17, 1927, in Lamar, Ark., to the late Jerome and Arnie Owen Cromer.Mrs. Blair was a graduate of Jacksonville High School and a member of First Baptist Church of Conway and attended First Baptist Church of Cabot. She enjoyed her work as a licensed cosmetologist and real estate agent during her life. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blair was preceded in death by her husband, Sanford D. Blair on April 16, 1974, and two sisters, Zoe Ballinger and Audrey Magdelano.

Mrs. Blair is survived by a brother, J. E. Cromer and his wife Carole of Norfork, and a sister, Lorene Cromer Shaver of Benton as well as a niece, Jacquelyn Moore and her husband Jonathan and Joseph Cromer and his wife Leanne, all of North Little Rock. Also surviving her are greatnieces, Erica Moore and Charlotte Cromer, and great-nephew, Chase Cromer.

CAVE CITY - Eugene Joseph Besancon Jr. age 84 of Cave City, Ark., passed away Thursday, August 30, 2007, in a local hospital. Born on March 7, 1923, in Little Rock, Arkansas, he was the son of Eugene Joseph Besancon Sr. and Rosa Hudman Besancon.

He served in the Army during the European Theater and was a retired cattle farmer and was of the Lutheran faith.

Survivors include three sons, Danny Besancon and wife Sharon, Terry Besancon and wife Gina of North Little Rock, Perry Besancon and wife Debbie of Cave City; two brothers, Herman Besancon of Killeen, Texas, Edwin Besancon of Nashville, Tenn.; one sister Marqurite Besancon of Little Rock; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene an Rosa Besancon; his wife, Dorothy Besancon; one grandson, Gregory Besancon; and two brothers, Raymond and Charles Besancon.

Funeral services are Tuesday, September 4, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the Willis-Hays Chapel in Batesville with Larry Ballard officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at the Hazen Cemetery in Hazen, Ark.

DELIGHT - Pamela Jean Price Henderson, age 49, of Delight died Saturday, September 1, 2007, near Delight. She was born April 1, 1958, in Gold Beach, Ore., the daughter of Cecil Gilbert and Sue Mitchell Price. Mrs. Henderson was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Gilbert Price.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Dale Henderson; one son, Kody Henderson; one daughter, Natika (Eric) Porter all of Hot Springs; her mother, Sue Price of Antoine; one sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Dean Clark of Antoine; grandmother, Allie Clark Young of Antoine; granddaughter, Maddox Porter of Hot Springs; two nieces, Jennifer and Carrie Clark; two greatnephews, Caynon Elmer; Djay Leeper and three great-nieces, Haley Lee, Kyla Clark and Santana Leeper all of Antoine.

NEW EDINBURG - Ola Haynie Morgan, 94, of New Edinburg died Friday, Aug. 31, 2007. Mrs. Morgan was born in the Smith Chapel Community near New Edinburg on Oct. 19, 1912, to the late Ira and Sallie Waldrop Haynie. She was a retired nurse and a Protestant.

She is survived by her stepdaughter, Jean Lambie of Alexander, Ark.; five nieces, Paula Searcy of Kingsland, Ark., Linda Boyter of Pine Bluff, Ark., Renea Morgan of Kingsland, Ark., Beverly Stewart of Fordyce, Ark., Sara Castleberry of Bearden, Ark.; two nephews, Robert Russell of Kingsland, Ark., Joe Towery of New Edinburg, Ark.; and several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, John Wagster and Lacy Morgan; five sisters, Trell Cotton, Marie Shepard, Vera Russell, Dessie Haynie, Wanda Sue Towery; and a niece, Iris Cearley.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, in the Smith Morgan Cemetery, with Brother Shane Mathews officiating. SEARCY - Mr. Ronald E. Herring, 73, of Searcy, formerly of Newport died Friday, Aug. 31, 2007 at Searcy. He was born Nov. 20, 1933 at Newport, the son of Ralph E. and Frances Elizabeth (Fisher) Herring. He married Miss Nelda Dutton on Oct. 12, 1988.

Mr. Herring retired from Revere Copper and Brass (now known as Norandal) after 35 years of service. He was a member of Westview Missionary Baptist Church at Searcy. He enjoyed playing his guitar, and time spent with his church family. During his younger years he also enjoyed hunting and motorcycling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, William Sidney Herring and Ralph Owen Herring, one sister, Mercedes Raye Reed; and one brother-in-law, Auther LeRoy Reed.

Mr. Herring is survived by his wife of 18 years, Nelda Faye Dutton Herring of Searcy, Ark.; one son, Ricky E. Herring and wife Gayla of Tuckerman , Ark.; one daughter, Jackie Ashcraft and husband Nelson of Benton, Ark.; one sister, Sheila Wheeler and husband Darrell of Newport, Ark.; one sister-in-law, Marie Herring; seven grandchildren, Robyn Marie Herring, Layla Michelle Herring, Ben Louer, Jacquelyn Gates, Lee Ashcraft, Bonnie Sellers, and Darrell Hennington; nine great-grandchildren, MalachiGates, Jaxson Gates, Isiah Louer, Sydney Raye Herring, Ryan Ashcraft, Will Ashcraft, Scott Ashcraft, Tate Ashcraft, and Chase Sellers; three nieces, Carlotta Vaughn, Cyndi Bryant, and Elizabeth Connally; and two nephews, Ral Wheeler and Wayne Reed.

Memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel.

SHERIDAN - Joshua Ray Reynolds, 25, of Sheridan enteredthrough the gates of heaven on Friday, Aug. 31, 2007. He was born April 21, 1982 in Little Rock, Ark. Joshua was a member of Sardis Methodist Church where he was active in the Youth Ministry and Praise and Worship Band. Joshua's gift from God was playing the drums for which he had a deep passion and for making people laugh. He touched every heart that knew him. Joshua was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Dennis Ray Fletcher and Rennie Charles Reynolds; brother, Edwin Dale Reynolds; uncle Charles Anderson Fletcher.
