Have you ever been scrolling through TikTok or watching one of your favorite creators and see little icons that float across the screen? These are known as TikTok Gifts.
TikTok gifts are virtual items that users can send to their favorite creators both via TikTok Lives and through their For You Feed to show their love and appreciation. These gifts are shown as different icons and can be converted to different amounts of digital money known as Diamonds.
What Are TikTok Gifts
TikTok Gifts were made so that users can give their favorite creators a present to interact with them. Creators must have at least 1,000 followers to be able to receive gifts from their followers.
How TikTok Gifts Work
As stated above, to be able to send a gift on TikTok, you must purchase TikTok coins. After you load your preferred amount of money onto your TikTok coins, you will be able to send a certain amount of gifts to creators. After each gift given your money will be deducted from your total.
So how do you load said coins onto your TikTok account? There are two ways to recharge coins. One is from your TikTok account or from a TikTok video.
Recharge Coins from your TikTok Account:
- Click on your profile
- Locate your Settings and Privacy
- Then click Balance
- Click recharge and choose which package you’d like
- Follow the next instructions and purchase through the app store
Recharge Coins from a TikTok Video
- Discover the video you want and click on the comments
- Click on the Gifts button in the comments bar (if this is not there, it is because the creator can not receive gifts)
- Click on recharge and choose your preferred package
- Follow the next instructions and purchase through the app store
How to Set Up Live Gifts
- Click on your profile
- Locate the three-line icon and click on settings
- Click Creator Tools and Live Gifts
- Follow the next instructions
Make sure to turn on receiving gifts for other videos by locating Video Gifts > Turn on Video Gifts
What Are TikTok Live Diamonds?
When you go LIVE you will hopefully notice icons pop up, these icons are from your audience. At the end of your live video, locate your Live summary details and this is where you will find how many gifts you were given. The number of gifts is then converted to Diamonds.
To be able to receive Diamonds, you must:
- Be a part of the Creator Next Program
- You reside in a location that offers gifts
- 18 years old
- You have had an active account for more than 30 days with at least 1,000 followers
- Your account meets community guidelines and requirements
- Your account is not a business account
After you have received the Diamonds, you can check your balance and withdraw any preferred amount as long as you have connected your account to your PayPal.
TikTok Creator Next
TikTok’s Creator Next was created to assist their creators in the monetization side of being content creators.
There are certain requirements to be a part of TikTok Creator Next:
- Must be available in your location
- Must be 18 years of age or older (19 in South Korea & 20 in Japan)
- Must have a minimum number of followers and video views
- Must have posted on TikTok at least three times in the last 30 days.
- Must follow TikTok’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.
- Business Accounts are ineligible to participate
If all the requirements are met above, you can now apply to participate in TikTok Creator Next. Here’s how:
- Click on your profile
- Locate the three-line icon and go to settings
- Click Creator Tools then click apply
- Follow the next instructions
After you have gained access, you will now be able to access Creator Fund, Creator Marketplace, Video Gifts, and LIVE Gifts.
TikTok Gifts Price
There are several different icons and the icons come with different amounts of money. For example, the rose icon is the cheapest gift costs 1 TikTok coin and equates to about 1.4 US cents and the Universe gift is the most expensive, costing 44,999 coins, which equates to about $562 US dollars.
There are about 100 TikTok gifts available, with prices ranging from as low as $0.012 which is 5 virtual TikTok coins to as high as $500 which is 35,000 TikTok coins. These icons are constantly being changed and updated.

How to Send Gifts in TikTok Live
To send a gift during your favorite creators live streams all you have to do is:
- Choose the specific LIVE and click on the Gift button at the bottom.
- Choose the Gift you’d like to send.
- If you need to recharge your Coins, tap Recharge and follow the instructions to complete your payment.
How to Send TikTok Live Gifts for Free
This is a common question, but unfortunately, you are unable to send TikTok gifts for free. You must purchase coins in order to send any gift.
How Much Do TikTok Live Make from Gifts
Creators receive50% of the total of the coins that are used to purchase gifts. So for example if you received 100 coins, you as a creator would receive 50 of those coins. The amount of actual money depends on which type of gifts you were given because they are all worth a different amount.
